The Punk Potter Studio
Rob Small runs Punk Potter Studio, a working pottery in Nansledan, Newquay, where visitors throw pots on their own Japanese Shimpo wheels. Sessions cater for up to six people at a time, run as a hands-on introduction to shaping Cornish clay, and the studio also makes its own thrown vases for sale. Clay is collected locally and sourced from the Doble family in St Agnes, the same source used by Leach Pottery, while glazes are made from Cornish granite quarry tailings, seashell calcium and wood ash gathered nearby. Rob and his wife run the studio together.
