The Gabrielle Rowley School of Dancing
The Gabrielle Rowley School of Dancing has taught ballet around Muswell Hill for more than seventy five years, the last fifty or so from its current base. Founded by Gabrielle Rowley, a pupil of a pupil of Tamara Karsavina, it passed in 1995 to Tamara Murray, a former student who trained at the Royal Academy of Dance and later taught dance for twenty five years at the City Lit in Covent Garden. Murray now runs and teaches at the school alongside Kerry West, who also teaches elsewhere on a freelance basis. Classes are held at Hornsey Parish Church near Cranley Gardens, ranging from pay-as-you-go ballet drop-ins for three and four year olds to term-based lessons for older children.
