Coul Brewing Company
Coul Brewing Company brews small batch craft beer in a custom-built microbrewery, converted from a domestic garage and run by a hand-built automated control system that reclaims heat from its heat exchanger. Founded in Glenrothes in 2017 by self-taught brewer brothers Andrew and Martin Dean, the family-run operation makes beers in traditional Scottish and modern styles. Spent grain and hops go to local dog biscuits or cow feed, and the brewery draws on local ingredients and suppliers where it can. The name recalls the Coul Reservoir, built in 1890 to supply the Haig Whisky Distillery.
