Thorley u3a is a self-help learning organisation for people in their third age, mainly those who are retired or semi-retired, and everyone who helps run it is a volunteer, whether on the committee, leading a group, organising trips or helping at the monthly meetings. Its interest groups cover a wide range of subjects including cribbage, gardening, history, languages, singing, table tennis and walking, alongside outings, trips and special events. Membership takes in the monthly meetings, the Third Age Matters magazine posted to members five times a year, and the chance to join the interest groups and the branch's outings.
