Dunston and District u3a runs 7 groups around Dunston.
Dunston and District u3a was formed in November 2012 and is a friendly and still growing group. Meetings are held monthly at the Ravensworth Road Methodist Church on the first Wednesday of each month at 2pm, with a speaker followed by an update on activities, other business and a chat over tea and a biscuit. There are also separate interest group meetings and organised events. Dunston sits on the south bank of the Tyne in Gateshead, and was known for its wooden coal staiths, first opened in 1893 for loading coal from the North Durham coalfield onto ships and now reputed to be the largest wooden structure in Europe, protected as a listed building and a scheduled ancient monument.
- Newcomers New members are always welcome. Pop along to one of the meetings or send a message through the contact form.
- Cost, as stated 25 Aug 2026 £15 a year, with an additional £4 for members who want to subscribe to the u3a magazine, published five times a year

A local paper for your patch, delivered by email. Who's just started up, what's in season, when the markets are on, what's on this month, and the odd story about how a place like yours keeps its money close to home.
Good news, mostly. There's enough of the other kind about.
