Meets: Monthly on Wednesday mornings 10:45 am 3rd Wednesday in the month
Where: Cupar Old Parish Centre, Cupar
Reading Companions meet on the third Wednesday of the month at 10.45am in the Old Parish Centre in Cupar. The group is presently eight women, and is very friendly. Meetings discuss the author and the book everyone has just read, along with anything else members have read recently and would recommend. Some books are hits, some misses, and some get a mixed reaction. Most choices so far have been fiction, though the group has read some factual books too and anything is possible. Each member takes a turn to choose the following month's book, which gives everyone a chance to pick and means others read something they might never have chosen themselves. It is done on the understanding that if a choice is disliked, it is the book that gets criticised rather than the person who chose it, and it is perfectly all right not to finish a book someone is not enjoying. Recent reads include The Wager, James, The Penguin Lessons and Death at La Fenice, with Music in the Dark, Wide Sargasso Sea and A Year in Provence to come.
