Meets: Weekly on Tuesdays 10:30 am
Where: St John's Church Hall, Stansted Mountfitchet
The group paints and draws in a relaxed and sociable way, with members choosing their own subjects rather than working to a set brief: a still life, a self portrait, one of the geraniums the hall keeps, or something out of their heads. The leader gives advice on mixing colour, perspective, composition and light and shade to anyone who wants it, and helps work out what is wrong when a picture is not quite right. A professional artist occasionally comes to demonstrate, often bringing paintings to sell at favourable prices. The group meets on Tuesday mornings at St John's Church Hall from 10.30am until around 12.30pm.
- What to bring Members buy their own materials. Acrylic is suggested for a first go at painting, because mistakes are easy to cover, and pastels, watercolour, coloured pencils, collage, chalk and charcoal are all used. Oils need a low odour medium.
