Rachael South
Rachael South weaves chair seats in rush, seagrass, Danish paper cord and skeined willow, and works in both modern and traditional upholstery. A third-generation chair caner taught by her father, she works from a studio on the South Coast, restoring fine antique and modern pieces alongside contemporary experimental seats made on new and restored frames using leather and wire. Her work has been exhibited at the Museum of London and the William Morris Gallery, and she teaches seat weaving classes at West Dean College in Sussex and at the East London Furniture Institute.
