Walking cricket is designed to be less physical than the ordinary game but just as competitive: no running, only walking, with a composite plastic bat, a softer practice ball and bowling over or underarm on a shortened fifteen yard strip. Sessions run weekly on Wednesday afternoons from 2pm until 3.45pm at Oldswinford Cricket Club on Albemarle Road, on the Lea Vale playing fields, weather permitting, and continue until the end of the cricket season in September. Anyone who does not feel up to batting or bowling can come along to umpire or keep score instead. This is the group's seventh outdoor season.
