Lea Valley u3a was the first branch set up in its area, in 1992, and draws members from Broxbourne, Hoddesdon, Nazeing and the surrounding areas. It runs over 40 interest groups, among them art appreciation, Pilates, croquet, French boules, exploring London, reading, walking, crafts, eating out and pub lunches, meeting outdoors, in small halls around the area or in private homes. Main meetings are normally on the second Monday of the month at The Spotlight in Hoddesdon, with members arriving from 1pm to visit group tables and have a drink and a light snack, and the meeting starting at 1.45pm with announcements from the chair followed by a speaker. Dates can change because of public holidays.
